Default I need serious help.

I'm very new to this game, just got it for Christmas and i have some questions about this game. Some gameplay some quests.

1) On the Trouble in the Woods quest, I'm level 3 and whenever I try to fight the monsters on the bridge and past the bridge, I get destroyed by about 5-7 of them. is level 3 too low? should I do other quests first?

2) In Little Thoms Big Cloak it tells me to go to wizard's folly, kill the bears then bring the pelt back. But I keep killing bears and they haven't dropped anything. Am I missing something or do I need to just kill more til they drop 1?

3) I am a ranger (level 3) with a warrior second profession. What should I use (sword or bow)?, which skills should i use?, which traits should i use my trait points on?

4) right now i have a trainer bow (i think it's called that) and like i said, i'm level 3. Should I buy a new one now? If so, where can I find a shop? I haven't seen any shops yet. And also I don't think I have seen money yet in the game. What would I use to buy stuff?

5) At level 3, what should I be doing? should I be killing monsters and gaining levels? should I go for a bunch of quests? or what else should I be doing? I want to know from experienced players.

6) I encountered this quest where someone asked me to go to war and I will never be able to come back once I leave. I said "no, not yet". Is this the right thing? like I should do all of the quests that I can before I leave, right? When should I leave to go to that ''war" quest thing?

I will VERY much appreciate any help, and please help me. Thanks.

Hi and welcome

a couple of link here may help

http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Quest

http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Mission...8Prophecies%29

I would level up a bit before you leave pre Searing and do some more quests and leave about level 5 or so.

As bows drop see if they are better than the one you have equiped.

Also concentrate on Ranger only skills, Marksmanship/Wilderness for a while.

Welcome to GW

1) lvl 3 might be a little low for new player, go do a few quests and level a bit.

2) Just keep on killing them, they will drop sooner or later.

3) As a ranger you should use a bow.

4) Keep an eye out for bows that drop, lvl 3 is very low still and the bows will get progressivly better as you move through the game.

5) Quests are the fastest way to lvl. they will also teach you more about the game than just endlessly killing things.

6) Sounds like its the "leave pre-searing" quest, as a new player id sugest staying in pre and doing all the quests you can find. Once you leave pre the game gets a lot harder (comparatively)

Welcome to GW!

1) Well, jsut go on patiently till you reach a higher level. Look carefully at your skills, manage your energy and be carefull about your health.

2) In case of trouble, first look at the GW wiki:
http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Main_Page
if you search for "Big Cloak" you'll find that:
http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Little_Thom%27s_Big_Cloak
and it says "kill Black Bears until you get one" so keep going killing bears!

3) You have 2 forums for Rangers and Warriors on GWguru:
http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/f...play.php?f=209
http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/f...play.php?f=210
You can also take a look at this site:
http://www.pvxwiki.com/wiki/Main_Page

Gears (weapons, armors, runes) generally depend on the build (your 8 skills) you use, and there are lots of possibly builds. Often people mention the gears they're using with their build, see links above.

4) Money drops of monsters you kill, and you get some from some quest rewards. Each time you kill a monster, look on the ground for "drops". You can sell some drops to merchants (they're in outposts with "[Merchant]" after their name).

You have to know that: sometimes a drop has a "rarity" (blue which lower than purple which is lower than gold) and it means you can salvage some rare things of it using a "salvage kit" that you can buy of merchants. But before doing that you need to identify them using an "identification kit", bought from merchants. Experiment a bit with that.

5) Quests will carry you through the GW storyline, and in the process you'll gain experience points which will rise your level. Each time you gain one level, type "K" to have your skill window and increase some attributes. You can change your skills in this window (skills are bought from skill trainers that are in outposts, some skills come as quest rewards).

In some outposts, you'll notice a "Begin mission" button in the bottom part of your party window. This indicate one of the primary mission of the game. Use it to try the mission, which will lead you, when completed, to the next outpost in the game (you can also walk your way through the map and go from outpost to outpost if you will).

6) Only place in Gw where accepting a mission will move you to a new "world", I won't spoil the story by telling you what exactly. This is called the "searing".

1) Did you add henchmen to your party? Henchmen are characters standing in outposts, you can see them by keeping the "alt" key down, then you click on one of them (they each have different professions) and in the party window (usually on the left handside of the screen) you can click a "+" button to add them to your party.
There are no henchmen in pre-searing Ascalon. You can, however, team up with one other person if you desire.

6) It's rare that choosing a quest or even mission has to be postponed. Sometimes you've got this window so that you know you'll be transported to a different place, thus you can cancel if you want to change your party or do something before the mission or quest. So in general it's safe!
That particular quest will take you to post-searing, and you don't want to do it until you are leveled up and more experienced with the game. (see post by The Riven).

Welcome to Guild Wars and GW Guru!

PS: If you need help, PM me in game. I have a character that stays in pre to help others named Serenity Monty (also a ranger )
PPS: I have enough gold and wood for you to get a decent bow from Weaponcrafter.

That part of prophesies limits you to a party size of 2 and there are no henchemen so grab a friendly player to help you out if you can, although it can all be done solo except when you need a gate opening later on.

1 The Bridge mission is a little hard for a newcomer, if I remember correctly you do that mission with backup "female hammer warrior.
She does most of the hard work and you can help her by killing the spellcasters.

Retreat when you have to, if she dies you have to kill the rest by yourself just use your bow and try to draw them out one by one.
Hit retreat hit retreat then kill when one is alone, they will not cross the bridge.

2 yes keep killing bears one will drop eventually

3 use the bow and start with "marksmanship", when you meet more skill trainers and have "wilderness" skills maybe put points there.
"Beastmastery" when you have a pet and want to use it fully but you dont need to worry about that yet, "expertise" again dont worry yet.
Warrior skills wouldnt add any there yet.

4 go up the stairs in ascalon city and then go left there should be a weaponsmith he will make you a better bow when you can afford his price, but bows will drop for you and at least one ranger mission gives a bow as a reward.

5 do all quests and if its not too late
ie you have fixed your secondary profession as warrior try out all secondary ones.
If you try out all 5 secondary professions you achieve 3 things
a you unlock skills for your characters
b you see what secondary works best for you
c gain experience and levels

6 yes do all quests and explore everywhere before you leave which will be when you are about level 8, where you are now is the training area of the game.

as you gain levels the experience you get from killing creatures will drop so you have to kill tougher ones and you will need to move on when all quests are done and your not gaining xpo any more.

Collect everything and get your armour from the collectors scattered around the map by collecting what they want.
Sell everything else to get money for later on when you might want to buy something.

Any more questions ask away call me in the game if im online just remind me who you are when you do im old and forgetfull

I also have a ranger that stays in pre-searing and can help you find the skill trainers for ranger so you have more choices. There are three trainers for ranger and you will want these skills unlocked before you leave.

PM me if you see me on, my pre character is Dani Hawke.

Will anyone help? because I think it says I get a long bow for that quest. And also thanks to everyone SOOO much for helping me. I do really appreciate it.
